We were in an accident in September, my 4 y/o son and i went to see a chiropractor and i also seen a physical therapist a few times, (i actually still have pain from time to time in my shoulder and upper back). the total bills for us both are just under $3000. the adjuster called this morning with a slap in the face of a settlement offer to pay the bills and $250, claiming that the damage to my car was only $800 ( estimate from their mechanic, i actually paid $1200 to have the repairs done, they wont accept responsibility for the rest) and because their policy holder claimed no damages over their deductible on their already beat up car, (even though it was also damaged in this incident)that nothing else is justified. we were hit from behind while stopped at a light and the person who hit us just barely hit the brakes before hitting us so at impact was probably still going 30-35, their airbags went off but not ours. our rear and their front bumpers lined up exactly perfect that the only thing damaged was the bumper and exhaust, after all isnt that what a bumper is for? I feel the $250 over the medical bills doesnt even cover the hassle alone for going to these visits, not to mention the ongoing pain i still have. i was a stay at home mother of 4 at the time of the accident so i was not able to take anything for pain other than ibuprofen which did almost nothing. What is it i need to say or do in order to get this settled appropriately, i would like to steer clear of a lawyer unless absolutely necessary, like my Dr mentioned, why should they get 1/3 of my medical bills, and since the insurance started that low, its not likely they will go significantly higher to justify a lawyer Thank you for any input"

My mother was diagnosed with cancer a year and a half ago and worked up until last December. She had a $150,000 term life insurance plan through her old employer also.
